What began as dating and courtship evolved into love, a partnership, and eventually a complete family.

The scene in the bathroom portrays the culmination of this process – the father is relaxed in the bathtub with a glass of wine, the mother is entirely at ease in the restroom, and the child is playing confidently.

This is intimacy built over time, layer upon layer of trust and love, until it has reached a point where there is no need for masks or pretense.

The bathroom, which typically symbolizes the most private space in the home, here becomes a setting for full familial intimacy.

I chose to depict the family in this particular space emphasizes the depth of connection and trust they have built – because in a place where most people seek absolute privacy, this family finds comfort in sharing and openness.

The checkered floor divides the room into different areas, but the family members share it with complete ease – much like family life itself – a delicate balance between privacy and sharing, between the personal and the collective.

The journey to such a moment of absolute openness involves many challenges – learning to accept one another, embracing each other’s weaknesses, building mutual trust, and navigating the changes brought by parenthood.

All these elements come together to form the rare ability to be entirely natural and open in the presence of family.
